Captain America 2's Winter Soldier Has Been Revealed
Captain America Winter Soldier villain
When we first heard the official title for the sequel to Marvel's Captain America: The First Avenger, we were intrigued to hear it would be the "most closely associated with Avengers."
In case you missed it, the Disney-owned company revealed at Comic-Con that Chris Evans' third outing as the patriotic hero will be in Captain America: Winter Soldier.
Since the official (and vague) synopsis says the flick will "pick-up where … The Avengers leaves off," we hear Jeremy Renner and Scarlett Johansson will have major roles as Hawkeye and Black Widow's backstory will reportedly be explored.
They'll be joining Falcon — a role which may go to Anthony Mackie — and the Captain in the fight against the mysterious Winter Soldier.
So who is this guy? (SPOILER ALERT!)
Remember Steve Rogers' best friend, Bucky Barnes, in the first Captain America movie? Sebastian Stan played the character and sources have confirmed that he's signed a six-picture deal with the studio.
We may have seen him saw him fall to his death, but no one is ever dead in the comic book world, so he will actually be returning as the titular villain!
Much like the Cap, Barnes' body is found frozen, but it's the Russians who snag him and brainwash him to become an elite assassin codenamed Winter Soldier. However, given his storyline in the comic books, he may end up becoming a good guy, so he could just be a pawn controlled by a much more sinister villain!
